The series Caput mortuum links brutalist architecture with a body altered by ME/CFS, turning raw cotton into living, folding surfaces between resilience and decay. I scraped the pigment myself from the iron-scorched soil of the (post-) industrial area Baía do Tejo in Barreiro, Portugal, reclaiming this alchemical residue by hand.

The abstract shapes of the glasses, painted on both sides, echo the triangular forms of votive paintings. The coloured surfaces interact with transparency, overlapping shapes and colours and the play of light and shadow on painting ground and wall.
